Contribute to eliminating bias against Africa and African people in the media.
To highlight the positive narrative of Africa and African communities through educational programs that promote and amplify the voices and perspectives of African, African Americans and the African Diaspora people.
Primier Media takes an African-centered approach to educational programming. This is important for correcting the negative narrative about Africa. Our approach allows for a more accurate portrayal of African people, African-Americans and the African diaspora’s cultures, and societies. For decades, Africa has been portrayed by the media as a continent plagued with war, poverty, disease, and corruption, which has perpetuated negative stereotypes about African people and their way of life. This portrayal often ignores the rich cultural heritage, diverse languages, and complex histories of the continent. Additionally, subsequent portrayals of the continent and Black people have not fully recognized their potential and progress.
Primier Media provides a platform for Africans and the African diaspora’s voices to be heard and for African perspectives to be shared. It allows for a more nuanced understanding of the continent, its people, and its cultures. By providing high quality educational programs that highlight the positive aspects of African societies and cultures, Primier Media challenges the negative stereotypes.
Primier Media also helps to counter the effects of cultural imperialism and the dominance of Western media in shaping global perceptions of Africa. By producing and promoting African voices, African countries can assert their cultural sovereignty and promote a more balanced and accurate representation of their societies and cultures.
Overall, Primier Media is important for correcting the narrative about Africa because it provides a more accurate and nuanced portrayal of the continent and promotes cultural and racial pride for its people.
